I am a self-taught lapidary artist, turned sculptor. Much of the fun is in procuring the stone with which I work. My children sometimes help me with the hunting as well as the sanding and finishing, Stone, to me, represents the most basic and elemental (conscious) form of matter on Earth. Since, as humans, we all experience a need to create, my creative attunement seems to gravitate and attract to the "energy" of Minerals and Fossils.
Over the years, I have come to appreciate many forms of art in many different mediums, however, nothing "talks to me" like the tactile, visual, three-dimensional velvet-soft "electric" experience of hard rock that is highly polished to sensual perfection.
One of my most passionate challenges as an artist is to achieve perfection in form without destroying any of the essential elements of the intrinsic beauty and component parts of a fossil or mineral specimen. I sense my special contract and relationship with Earth Mother and honor her. It is Her creations that inspire my own creativity and direct my hand in sculpting, I endeavor to assist us to reconnect to our Source via our appreciation of Her many gifts in the multi-varied forms of Nature; expressly in the Mineral Kingdom which acts for me as my palette.
